As part of ISIT2020, the Shannon documentary The Bit Player will be
streamed online for the first time.
Free Online Screening of The Shannon Movie — Friday, June 26

The Information Theory Society proudly invites you to the online premiere
of *The Bit Player*, the first feature documentary about the father of the
information age, Claude Shannon.

Mixing contemporary interviews, archival film, animation, and dialogue
drawn from interviews conducted with Shannon himself, *The Bit Player

tells the story of an overlooked genius who revolutionized the world, but
never lost his childlike curiosity, and the ubiquitous impact of his
discoveries on today’s science and technology.

The film will be streamed for free through Zoom as part of ISIT2020 on
Friday, June 26 at 11:15 am Pacific Time and will be followed by a panel
discussion with Shannon’s MIT colleague Robert Gallager, film director Mark
Levinson (*Particle Fever*), renowned information theorist David Tse and
moderator Urbashi Mitra.

The screenings will celebrate the end of the 2020 International Symposium
on Information Theory. This year, participation in the symposium is free
