We're at it again! We started a group within IEEE for Open Source Digital
Radio. Details on how to join the workspace at Collabratec are below.

Note "Non-IEEE members are also welcome to join the Collabratec Workspace."

This is a pilot program and IEEE is very interested in feedback.

Thank you to those that helped make this possible. I'd like to single out
Steve Conklin for agreeing to be one of the group leaders, and Charlie Bird
at IEEE for refining the idea and providing valuable encouragement.

Advocating for open source within IEEE, the largest technical professional
society in the world, has not been easy, will not be easy, but has been
deeply rewarding and will be worth it over time. If you or someone you know
is a member of IEEE (or wants to be) then please let them know about the
Open Source Digital Radio local group. There is no additional cost to join
a local group and you do not have to be in the San Diego Section to join
it.

Congratulations on the approval of your Local Group!

On behalf of the IEEE Member and Geographic Activities Board, I would like
to recognize and express our appreciation to you for the commitment of your
valuable time and skills to serve the members of IEEE. As the leader of
this Local Group it is an opportunity for you to expand your leadership
skills, your network, and your responsibility to the local members of IEEE.

An IEEE Collabratec Workspace has been created for this Local Group and all
members of the San Diego Section will be invited to participate. Non-IEEE
members are also welcome to join the Collabratec Workspace. Although we
recognize the many social media options for communication, IEEE Collabratec
should be your primary vehicle for communication and collaboration with
members and non-members who have expressed an interest in Open Source
Digital Radio Group from the San Diego Section. Please view the short video
on using IEEE Collabratec. The name of the Collabratec Workspace is: Open
Source Digital Radio Group from the San Diego Section.

The URL to join is:
https://ieee-collabratec.ieee.org/app/workspace/invite/800853fe-d949-4bc7-8007-e94df954079c

In the near future, all of the vTools applications will be available for
your use. As for video conferencing / meeting tools, IEEE provides WebEx
accounts to Sections. You can work with your Section leadership to set up
WebEx meetings or request that a meeting be set up for you at:
https://vtools.ieee.org/webex-registration/

As we have mentioned before, you are now part of the pilot phase of Local
Groups, so any feedback we receive from you is valuable to us in order to
overcome any issues and make the Local Groups the best they can be.

Happy volunteering!
