I agree. The pronunciation is similar in both Japanese and English and will be easy to remember.

My daughter gave a thumbs-up and I asked one of the JAMSAT people I know too. Should hear back tomorrow.

Test test test .. play the sound button and hear how it sounds to US folks. Then ask Japanese speaker to listen and ask them if the translation. Is correct.
I am suggesting Something like "high flyer" in the link below.

I set it to "unnamed project" and have some proposed changes. We also have updated link budgets, updated block diagrams, and updated architecture.

Good idea. I think JAMSAT should get final naming rights, and we can make that clear. We will need one for proposal work, but it should still be international.

Can we discuss project name not in English? To reflect the spirit of international and inter-cultyral cooperation. Example: Zarya, etc.

Subject: [Ground-station] HEO proposal for JAMSAT - first meetup 1 August 2022
Greetings all,
We have an opportunity to present a HEO proposal to JAMSAT.
They want a HEO. They need more engineers and volunteers. We have core technology and technical volunteers.
Attached is a presentation from Jan King from the 2014 AMSAT-NA Symposium. There was a workshop and presentation. I know several people on the list were there.
I'd like to take this proposal (attached) and *update it for 2022*. This will be an open source project, open to international collaboration, and everyone that can follow our code of conduct and comply with our participant and developer guidelines is welcome to join.
We'll have a weekly "office hours" meetup. Day and time will most likely be Monday evening US Pacific starting out. First meetup will be this coming Monday, 1 August 2022.
We have a $50,000 pledge for funding (if the proposal is accepted). This is a good start! There are many other opportunities for fundraising once we have a viable proposal. Fundraising will be challenging but not impossible.
There is a lot of work that needs to be done before presenting to JAMSAT, but we're well within reach and we are capable of delivering a very good result. P4DX and other project work will be included.
If you are not familiar with JAMSAT, they are the national Japanese amateur satellite organization. We have presented our work at their Symposium, they have been gracious and generous hosts, they support open source, and have a friendly and active membership. The JAMSAT newsletter is outstanding.
We are weakest on thermal design, but we did get some familiarity with basic modeling using Thermal Desktop.
We are second-weakest on propulsion, with our focus being on synchronization techniques for electric motors. You may have noticed our fundraiser to build an application for the patent we have been allowed to use/exploit from GWU.
We are strongest on digital communications.
I expect we will leverage a lot of workflow know-how from Libre Space Foundation and others.
We need a name for the project and a logo! If you're inspired to get creative, please share your ideas.
Thank you,
-Michelle Thompson
