[Ground-station] LoRa on our GEO sat ?

Stuart Robinson, GW7HPW, one of our PocketQube collaborators, has been experimenting using LoRa modules on party balloons and has also tested with LoRa transmissions form LEO satellite. The chirp spread spectrum is not affected by doppler. This could be an improved transmission method for APRS or any other messaging service.

These LoRa modules can be bought on Amazon.
$12
Some are in the unlicensed RF spectrum.
So, do kids who fly Pico balloons with them, need commercial licenses, or ham licenses,
or no licenses ?

Might also be worth keeping in mind that there are LoRa modules that operate in US amateur 70cm space. The 433MHz modules are for the European equivalent of the US Part 15 market but I'd assume we could use them as long as we're identifying properly.

Let's not accuse each other of not understanding how things work. That won't get us far. There's lots of expertise to go around.

There's the rent-a-GEO, there's the Phase 4 Space four GEO payload grant application (our primary effort here), there's AMSAT GOLF, there's initiatives in Europe and China. We're all trying to find the best way forward.

Then please explain how it really works.
Syed of Othernet has been really helpful in this regard.
He is willing to work with us on a commercial basis. (For a fee).
For now, we will pursue Michelle's Echostar initiative.
I have not seen any other suggestions yet.

That would again require licensed commercial equipment.

I am pretty sure you do not understand how that system

Not ham radio related, but yet...
Should we have LoRa (Long Range) on a ham GEO satellite ?
This would add IOT (Internet of Things) capability to the effort.
Might make for easier funding due to an order of magnitude larger customer base...

Some of the images on this website might relate.
