This was a fantastic event. I attended last year and tried very hard to
promote AMSAT, the amateur satellite service in general, and build
connections with and use results from successful university groups that
could directly help programs like GOLF.

The international researchers all knew who AMSAT-DL and AMSAT-UK were. No
one from the United States had any idea that amateur satellite service
existed, or that there was an organization with a long history. I spent a
lot of the week repping and promoting and handing out AMSAT-NA membership
applications and advising about starting radio clubs.

We did an amateur radio demo one evening at the conference social that was
very well received. IEEE included the video report I made of the event in
their activities.

The response from AMSAT-NA membership was positive and supportive. The
response from leadership was not positive or supportive.

It takes sustained optimistic effort to build successful technical and
cultural networks that benefit everyone coming to the table.

If you are in the area of this conference, or can get there, and want to
attend or present or have a demonstration, then I can help out. Let me
know! :+) The chair of the event was super thrilled with us and would
welcome us back. I can't attend this year due to a conflict. :+( Already
looking forward to RWW coming back towards the west coast.
