<td id="m_-4976571221064622288body" style="padding:10px 0px;border:0px transparent;font-size:13px;line-height:18px;font-family:Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;color:#535353"><p>The Bluetooth SIG Board of Directors (BoD) would like your feedback on a New Work Proposal (NWP) to deprecate the Alternate MAC/PHY (AMP) feature that was first introduced in <em>Bluetooth</em><sup>®</sup> Core Specification version 3.0.</p> <p>Based on data from the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) product qualification database, the AMP feature has never been adopted heavily by Bluetooth SIG members. In fact, over the last five years, there has been a significant decline in product qualifications that include support for the AMP feature, with almost zero qualifications in recent months.</p> <p>Based on this data, the burden on the Core Spec Working Group (CSWG) and Bluetooth SIG staff in continuing to maintain the AMP feature does not appear justified, and a NWP has been submitted to deprecate the Alternate MAC/PHY (AMP) feature from the Bluetooth Core Specification in future releases. This NWP has not yet targeted a specific core specification release version.</p> <p>The Bluetooth SIG BoD values your input and wants to know if you have any concerns with the Bluetooth SIG removing AMP from the Bluetooth Core Specification and/or if there is any desire to maintain AMP features. The three layers affected are: 802.11 MAC-PHY, 802.11 PAL, A2MP.</p> <p>The BoD is hoping to make a quick decision so that the change can be considered for the next core specification version, so if you could let us know your thoughts by 2 November 2020 that would be very helpful.
