An article about FEC for Opulent Voice has been accepted by QEX and
will appear soon. Another article about root filters from M17, that
ORI volunteers helped make possible, will also be published in an
upcoming issue. Thank you to Jay Francis and several others that got
this one over the line.
We no longer help M17 because of the bizarre, unethical, and extremely
disappointing interference from ARDC, but the bad behavior from an
amateur radio organization should never stop us from using or
supporting good open source work.
There are at least 10 other things we could publish an article about
that are going on right now at ORI. Please let me know if I can help
you get your work in print. It doesn’t have to be QEX, but that is a
friendly and supportive publication that lines up with a lot of what
we do. We do use the amateur radio bands to experiment and we are
working to make the amateur satellite service better.
IEEE is also very supportive of the technical side of what we do, but
not as oriented towards open source. This has been changing lately,
but the progress here is admittedly slow and modest.
Thank you to everyone volunteering their time for ORI. It’s deeply
appreciated. We are making a difference and leaving a mark.
