What you seem to be summarizing here, Bruce, is an attempt by AMSAT-NA
to codify how they have been operating since at least 2018. I was a
member of an amateur radio satellite related group on a popular social
networking site at the same time that I was a rotating editor of the
ANS weekly bulletin. I was informed by AMSAT-NA that unless I removed
myself from that amateur radio satellite related group on a popular
social networking site and joined a different amateur radio satellite
related group (on the same popular social networking site), I would
have my editorship terminated (or was it my membership? I'd have to
mine old mail).
I asked several times for clarification of their control of my private
dealings and none was ever forthcoming. I ceased to be a rotating
editor of the ANS weekly bulletin shortly thereafter since I declined
to remove myself from that group.
I renewed my membership one more time after that because some people
were running for the AMSAT-NA board that thought, as I did, that this
was a completely ridiculous way to run a hobby organization. Some of
that slate won, but the writing on the wall was so clear, that I have
never had any more interaction with AMSAT-NA. Worse, I've completely
stopped listening to or operating via anyone's amateur radio
satellites since.
For the record, I make a point of referring to AMSAT-NA because I want
to make it clear that there is, to my knowledge, only one "AMSAT"
organization run by petty buffoons and that's AMSAT-NA. I don't want
to, in any way, besmirch the reputations of any of the other
AMSAT-branded organizations like AMSAT-DL or AMSAT-UK, to name two,
who do such important work for the amateur radio satellite community.
