AREx team:

NASA/Gateway had their monthly Utilization meeting today. I will share
more about this at our meeting on Thursday (usual time--1400 UTC). But an
interesting action with a Friday deadline was posed to all the prospective
payloads today.

As I have mentioned, SpaceX is developing the Gateway Logistics Module
(LM), which is the module we have told Gateway would be of most interest to
us because of its outstanding visibility to Earth. Gateway is entertaining
the idea of working with SpaceX to enable payload science after the LM
undocks from Gateway and potentially allow science before Gateway docking.
Gateway would like to know the kind of science folks would like to
accomplish after Gateway undock. Note that after undock, the LM will be
sent to Heliospheric orbit (orbit around the Sun). Besides an RF
experiment for students and hams on longest reception, and viewing the
Earth and Moon as the vehicle flies away, what other science would we want
to accomplish? GNSS signal occultation? Solar radiation spectrum
measurements? Others???

Please provide your creative science ideas directly to Oliver and me before
our meeting on Thursday. Note that if your idea has a link to something we
(or the space agencies) might want to do on or around Mars, our AREx
payload would garner substantial interest by the international space agency
team. In other words, we would get bonus points!

I appreciate your creative ideas in advance!

73, Frank
